FOLLOWING a long climb along a steep trail up Mount Kinabalu, I encountered an enormous carnivorous plant at about 265 metres above sea level. From there I continued climbing the mountain to 3300 metres above sea level, by far the highest I had ever climbed before. Despite Borneo being a hot tropical country, it was surprisingly cold up here with storm clouds hugging the mountain below and mid level cloud hugging the top of the mountain.
