THE SULU Sea is considered some of the most dangerous on Earth. Piracy is rife here. Despite that, the tiny islands just north of Borneo are absolute tropical paradises.

I spent a night here on one of these tiny islands. It was so small you could walk around its circumference in less than fifteen minutes.

This island is unique in that every night without exception turtles come to land here after a lifetime at sea to lay their eggs. They have been studied here since 1980 and they have never missed a night.
