IT WAS a clear and mile evening at the end of winter. The sky was perfectly clear for astrophotography. Unfortunately with living in a major metropolitan area where light pollution is so extreme that only the very brightest stars show. There are a few pockets where the Milky Way is visible, and fortunately tonight I was at one of them.
It was a very dark night on Bribie Island, where the constant roar of waves broke on the dark beach sweeping northwards towards the Sunshine Coast to the north, and into the entrance of Moreton Bay to the South. Offshore were the flashing lights of many fishing boats.
Looking inland over the scrubby trees of the foreshore highlighted by the faint glow of light pollution from distant towns, the Milky Way in all its glory spanned across the night sky.
