THIS was my first climb for a while, reaching the summit of Mount Ngungun again following a climb in very humid mid-summer weather. Thankfully it wasn't hot like yesterday.

The temperature had reached 45 degrees here in the shade yesterday, no doubt breaking the records. It had been a very clear day with winds blowing off the inland deserts bringing a heat wave with it.

Today was a lot cooler, with a very slight south easterly breeze felt only at the summit. Much of the view was obscured through with the wind bringing a haze from a large fire that has been burning over the past week on North Stradbroke Island about 100 kilometres away.

Even the nearby relatively nearby volcanic plugs of the other Glasshouse Mountains were obscured in the haze. I stood this shot of Mounts Tibrogargan and Beerburrum from The Gorge at about half way down from the summit. I was amazed the foliage didn't appear too heat stressed from yesterday.
