AT THE mouth of the Brisbane River is the old military base Fort Lytton, built in the nineteeth century to defend the city from invading ships. The battlements still have a few functioning cannons, of which several were fired today. The image is of me in front of the large 60 pound cannon just as it was being fired on its third attempt, with thick smoke pouring out of its barrel. |
