THE BRIGHT evening star Venus has been extending further from the sun each evening. This highly magnified image taken tonight shows the crescent of the planet as it continues rotating around the sun having recently overtaken Earth's orbit for the 2.8 billionth time since they were both formed over 4.5 billion years ago. The image is really stretching the limits of the telephoto lens across a turbulent sky in the early evening. |
