HEADING south west from Christchurch, I headed down the middle of the South Island with brief stops in Tekapo and Omarama before arriving in Queenstown in the late afternoon.
As the sun sank low in the early evening, I explored the foreshore of Lake Wakatipu hoping to capture the 20 centimetre tide that rises and falls every 14 minutes. A fairly strong southerly was blowing though, generating quite a swell that made the rises and falls hard to spot.
