OPENED in 1906, the Dunedin Railway Station is New Zealand's most photographed building, and considered the second most photographed building in the Southern Hemisphere after the Sydney Opera House. So naturally I took quite a few pictures of this building inside and out.

This was a day spent exploring much of the city. I have in previous trips been through Dunedin a few times, but unlike most of New Zealand's other towns, I have never stopped to explore it. Today I explored the city's amazing history, discovering a couple of museums and numerous heritage buildings. I went on a tour through the Cadbury chocolate factory due to close in a couple of days time following many decades of production.

From the city I headed out to St Claire Beach to look out over the spectacular Southern Ocean where plenty of people were swimming and surfing in the surprisingly warm 19 degree day (almost a heatwave for here). Despite the warmth, a dark southerly front loomed as the sun sank over the horizon bringing on the onslaught of the long winter.
