HELLO friends. I'm coming today from Rainbow Beach with Double Island Point in the background. You'll probably remember I was up here about two years ago marking the start of the epic South East Queensland hike right down to the border. Over in that direction you can see Fraser Island and I said I've always wanted to go over there. Well today I'm heading over there. This is the vehicle we are going to be travelling in. Five of us in our group on this overnight adventure on the island.

We've now made it up to the top of Inskip Point. The island is just over there and you can see the ferry coming in now. All the cars are parked at the top there. We're just about to head over.

We've reached a place called Central Station. We're following a creek here, a sacred creek apparently. We're in the middle of rainforest. It's very unusual finding rainforest on a sand island.

Well I've reached the beautiful Lake Mackenzie somewhere in the middle of the island. It's well above the water table and well above sea level. This is all accumulated rainwater and it's a most pristine place. I'm going to be doing a fair bit of photography here.

We've just arrived and settling in about to have dinner over a camp fire which will be really nice as it is a really cold night dropping down to about eight degrees tonight. It's almost a full moon and fortunately we're all going to be nicely rugged up in these little tents here. It's already getting dark. We're about eighty kilometres up the beach from the ferry so it's a long way, pretty remote territory. We are about two thirds of the way up the island. Tomorrow we're going to be exploring more of the island particularly along the beach. I'm going to call it a day so ciao for now.
