I ARRIVE at Queen Street Mall before first light photographing Queen Street Mall and King George Square before heading down to the river pathway starting under Victoria Bridge. I follow the pathway as the dawn begins to break. Rain is falling and the tops of the highest buildings disappear into the swirling clouds. Several runners and cyclists pass me on the path as I continue heading upstream passing under the three bridges and the floating restaurant sitting deserted and in ruins abandoned since the 2011 flood. A large number of cyclists gather at a small park opposite the quaint Regatta Hotel ready for their early morning ride through the city.

Several row boats are on the river casting off from the Brisbane Rowing Club buildings across the river. The commercial buildings of Milton's IT district gives way to apartment buildings as I approach the end of the pathway at Toowong Village where I finish this short morning hike before heavier rain sets in for the rest of the day.
