I WATCHED the sunrise at Booker Place Park in Balbowrie over the Brisbane River before hiking back through the village centre and continuing towards Anstead Bushland Reserve before returning to the park. From there I followed Mount Crosby Road across to Karana Downs where I hiked along the road pathway from Tanderra Way to Colleges Crossing Bridge. I returned to Anstead Bushland Reserve to explore the walking tracks following what had once been the road to Sugars Quarry, where high quality rock was extracted before it was abandoned and resumed as parkland. Nearby is a viewpoint with spectacular views of the Brisbane River passing through the gorge between the rolling green hills with Little Mermaid Mountain towering in the distance. Rain began to fall, so I returned along the lush green trail and headed home. |
