Booval to Goodna

THE MORNING dawned sunny as I arrived at Booval Station near Ipswich, from where I walked to the nearby start of the Bicentennial Walkway/Bikeway with the aim of getting to Goodna Station where I started from yesterday. Brisbane City is about forty kilometres away from here but Goodna is only about fifteen kilometres, so this is quite manageable.

The path followed Brisbane Road, through the commercial centre of Booval before crossing into Bundamba and to Ebbw Vale, where I stopped at the small memorial park. The path continued following the road for another kilometre before reaching the start of the Ipswich Motorway where the path continued through parkland next to the noisy motorway.

I followed this path until reaching a junction where a side track followed a road under the motorway to Riverview Station. I followed this passing the station and continuing up a hill from where I could see the Moggill Ferry transporting cars back and forth across this part of the river without a bridge.

From here I continued following the path which followed the motorway for another two kilometres before reaching Redbank, where it passed through the town centre and passing the Pan Pacific Peace Gardens and heading through some lowland farm area before reaching the Brisbane River at Richardson Park. Here I followed the river as it rounded one of its meandering bends at Priors Pocket. A couple of kayakers were on the water, but otherwise this part of the river was very quiet.

After relaxing at the park for a while, I headed up to the nearby Goodna Station where I had started yesterday, having completed what I had set out to do today.
