WELL good morning friends. Today I'm down the Gold Coast and already six kilometres past Surfer's Paradise and aiming for Burleigh Head which is another eight kilometres ahead of where I am now. I'm nearly half way to Burleigh Head. This is my beach walk and there was a beautiful sunrise this morning and continuing with this beach walk. The sea is a little rough.

Yesterday we had a very small tsunami about twenty four centimetres high at about 5:00 PM. The tide was out at the time so it would have had no impact here. It was formed by an earthquake a couple of thousand kilometres out. I was thinking with the whole of the Gold Coast city being on a narrow sandspit and on the other side is a big canal area which is actually the world's biggest canal estate which I will be exploring at some stage. That runs into Moreton Bay.

If a big tsunami was to hit here then it would just wash over everything and go into Moreton Bay. It would be quite an extreme event especially if it was a big one from an asteroid say one similar to the Berkel Crater asteroid which hit the Indian Ocean just off Madagascar about 4800 years ago. This side of Australia was OK, but the other side had a two hundred metre high wave come across the west coast.

The biggest tsunami I am aware of hitting this area was about forty metres high. That would have been devastating along this part of the coast. That was from the Chixolub crater impact in Mexico at the end of the age of dinosaurs.

Anyway, today I'm just having a nice little walk along the beach here in the sunshine. Burleigh Head is quite a bit further ahead so I'll just keep going for my walk. It really is quite peaceful going along here, a nice beach walk in the sun. Until next time, thanks for joining me again today friends. Until next time, ciao for now.
