Well good morning friends. Today I'm at the old telegraph station up just a little bit beyond Alice Springs. This marks the start of the Larapinta Trail which I'm going to be hiking on over the next five days. The trail starts here and just keeps on going. The actual trail takes two to three weeks to hike but I'm only doing sections of it. I've got two really good guides who I met last night. The trail starts here just out of Alice Springs and heads along the range for about two hundred kilometres. I'm really looking forward to this and it's going to be really spectacular.

I've now made it to the official start of the track. The whole track runs for about two hundred and thirty one kilometres. I'm not quite doing all of that, just doing lots of day trips doing different sections and highlights. There's the trail and that's what I'm going to be following over the next few days.

Well friends I've done the official 14 kilometre hike of the first section, and I've come a little bit further about ten kilometres down to Simpson's Gap where a gorge goes right through the range. It's been a fascinating first day on the Larapinta Trail today. Thanks friends for joining me again and I shall catch you a bit further along the trail tomorrow. Ciao for now.
