Introduction to today's journey
Today's journey starts with a flight from Brisbane to Sydney where I arrive in the city centre and walk to the opera house before taking a commuter ferry up Sydney Harbour to Parramatta.
Today's Journey
I arrive in Sydney under overcast skies. Once settled I set off along Pitt Street Mall to explore the city. |
Heading into one of the historic underground train stations, I catch a train to Circular Cay. |
From Circular Cay, I head out towards the famous Sydney Opera House to explore its unique architecture and the surrounding harbour. |
Returning to Circular Cay, I decide to catch one of the commuter ferries heading upstream along the harbour to Parramatta. |
The ferry takes off heading under the harbour bridge swinging around towards Darling Harbour. |
The ferry comes to a stop under the new Barangaroo development before heading further up the harbour. |
The harbour gradually narrows as we head upstream passing large houses and apartment blocks lining the pristine waters. |
The harbour gradually narrows to a mangrove lined tidal river, until coming to the upper tidal limit in Parramatta. |
I explore the glass high rises of Paramatta at the geographical centre of Sydney. |
From Paramatta I catch the train back into the city centre to my base over the next two weeks. |
