Introduction to today's journey

Today's journey returns to Geelong from where I catch a train back to Melbourne and explore the city centre before heading home to Brisbane.

Today's Journey

We have already crossed Bass Strait and entered Port Phillip Bay when the first light of dawn streams over the horizon.

Geelong comes into view as the sun rises streaming thorough a gap in the building clouds.

We pull into port not long after sunrise.

Once disembarked, I head back along the harbour towards the nearest train station.

A train arrives heading back into Melbourne.

We speed along the plains with Flinders Peak rising from the surrounding plain into the grey sky.

After an hour we reach Southern Cross Station in the city centre.

With a few hours to spare before flying back to Brisbane, I explore the city centre.

In between the busy streets are narrow alleys, each with a lot of character.

Starting to head back I pass the famous Flinders Street Station, the last port of call before heading to the airport.
