Introduction to today's journey

Today's journey starts in Lismore and heads to the coast to follow it northward to Byron Bay.

Today's Journey

Caption

I start this journey on the banks of Wilson River flowing through the middle of Lismore on the New South Wales northern coast. The river frequently floods through the town.

From Lismore, I head over the hills towards the coast.

I reach Ballina at the mouth of the Richmond River, which the Wilson River flows into further upstream.

Passing through the town of Ballina, I reach Ballina Beach from where the journey starts heading northward along the coast towards the Tweed Volcano.

I start heading north to a lookout over Angel's Beach.

From here I can see Cape Byron, mainland Australia's easternmost point, where I'm aiming to photograph the sunrise from tomorrow.

I continue heading up the coast through the hills towards Byron Bay for the night.
