Introduction to today's journey
Today's journey starts in Lismore and heads to the coast to follow it northward to Byron Bay.
Today's Journey
I start this journey on the banks of Wilson River flowing through the middle of Lismore on the New South Wales northern coast. The river frequently floods through the town. |
From Lismore, I head over the hills towards the coast. |
I reach Ballina at the mouth of the Richmond River, which the Wilson River flows into further upstream. |
Passing through the town of Ballina, I reach Ballina Beach from where the journey starts heading northward along the coast towards the Tweed Volcano. |
Looking north along Ballina Beach as a heavy swell breaks. |
A yacht heads out into the ocean from the mouth of the Richmond River. |
I start heading north to a lookout over Angel's Beach. |
From here I can see Cape Byron, mainland Australia's easternmost point, where I'm aiming to photograph the sunrise from tomorrow. |
A hang glider makes the most of the south easterly wind blowing onto the lookout. |
I continue heading up the coast through the hills towards Byron Bay for the night. |
