Introduction to today's journey

Today's journey takes me into the traditional palaces and temples of Bangkok, exploring the royal palace, and several Buddhist temples.

Today's Journey

In the early morning I join a tour exploring Bangkok. We are first taken to the royal palace.

Temple of the Emerald Buddha. This is very ornate with gold and jewels covering this extremely opulent building, a lot busier than the more simple and organic Cambodian architecture.

More spectacular temples. It is interesting to see how these have evolved in different countries. Here they are very fancy.

An almost flooded market on the bank of the river. The city is slowly sinking under its own weight having been built on a large swamp.
