Introduction to today's journey

Today's journey takes me to Pyongyang Train Station, where our group catches the train back to Dandong, crossing the border into China before continuing towards Beijing.

The morning dawns through thick haze formed by the city's coal powered power stations looking across the Pyongyang skyline to the Juche Tower.

Catching the first train at Pyongyang Station with the rest of the group I travelled through North Korea with. This is the start of the 9300 kilometre train journey across to St Petersburg.

Heading across the lowlands of western North Korea over maize fields and passing small towns.
