Introduction to today's journey
Today's journey takes me from Mbarara back towards Kampala going through a fierce storm. We stop at some souvenir shops on the equator before heading to a small village along the shores of Lake Victoria. After exploring the shore, we return into Kampala where our tour ends.
Today's Journey
We leave Mbarara in the early morning heading through the misty valleys of scrub making our way back towards Kampala. |
We make a stop at the equator where I buy some souvenirs. |
Soon after leaving the equator heavy rain begins falling making the trip back a bit treacherous. |
The locals scurry for shelter from the torrential rain. |
The rain stops falling as we approach Kampala, but running ahead of schedule, we find a nice bay at the edge of Lake Victoria, the main source of the Nile River. |
A pair of large storks forage the shallows. With a wingspan of almost 3 metres, these are the largest flying birds in the world next to the albatross. |
Our van which has seen a lot of action from the rain and crossing the mountains. |
More rain is approaching as we leave the lake. |
Returning to the centre of Kampala after exploring the remote wilderness of Western Uganda. |
Celebrating the end of our road trip with a pizza. |
