Introduction to today's journey

Today's journey explores Wellington, heading around to the other side of the harbour, before exploring the rugged hills above the city.

Today's Journey

Early morning looking over Lyall Bay and the airport and across to the other side of Wellington Harbour where the 1881 Wairarapa earthquake was centred, raising the land in the distance 6 metres out of the water.

Returning to the city centre where we explore the Beehive, the base of New Zealand's political leaders.

Heading up a hill behind the city to get an idea of how mountainous this area is.
