Introduction to today's journey
Today's journey departs Wellington, firstly flying up to Auckland passing the freshly snow covered volcanoes, then crossing back to Brisbane under a thick blanket of bushfire smoke.
Today's Journey
Walking beside Wellington Harbour in the early morning, I pass a small colourful piano. |
I explore the famous Te Papa museum on the waterfront, my final stop in New Zealand before returning to Australia. |
I head to the airport where I have a cup of lemon, honey and ginger before catching my first flight up to Auckland. |
Flying out over Cook Strait, the plane turns to head up the middle of the North Island between Mount Taranaki and Mount Ruapehu, both of which are now covered in snow. |
Reaching Auckland Airport, I head through immigration before catching an Emirates flight across to Brisbane on its way to Dubai. |
Flying above the clouds as we ascend on the journey back over the Tasman Sea. |
Spectacular cloud formations rise over the sea to bring rain to New Zealand in the coming days. |
Descending into Brisbane as the sun prepares to set. The afternoon has been very long as we have followed the sun across the Tasman Sea. |
Flying past the city centre as we approach the airport shortly after sunset. |
Crossing the Brisbane River on our final approach to the airport. |
