Introduction to today's journey
TODAY'S journey heads into Beerwah State Forest pine plantation eventually ending at Landsborough where I stop for lunch. From Landsborough, I head to the nearby Ewen Maddock-Dularcha Trail circuit following it anticlockwise passing the lake through the forest with the occasional lake view. I eventually reach the day use area near the dam from where I hike along the footpath following Connection Road to Mooloolah, my final destination of this leg.

Today's Journey
I start from Beerwah village at first light, passing a few unusual metal scuptures as I head through the town centre and across the railway line. |
At the edge of the village I reach Beerwah State Forest and hike through the area of young pine trees as the dawn breaks and the sun rises. |
I continue hiking through the pine forest along its dirt and gravel roads for most of the morning. |
The forest eventually ends when I reach historic Landsborough, where I stop for lunch. |
After lunch I leave Landsborough crossing the main northern railway line to follow part of the Dularcha-Maddock circuit. |
The start of the circuit is a back road passing a few acreages as thick clouds form overhead. |
I hike through the forest around the Ewen Maddock Lake as heavy rain falls. The forest varies from wetland forest to eucalypts to rainforest along the wide trail. |
Although the forest conceals the view for most of the way, there are a few breaks where I get a good view of the lake as the rain starts to clear. |
The trail ends as a boardwalk as I approach the Ewen Maddock Dam supplying water to the southern Sunshine Coast. From the dam, the track turns back to follow Connection Road towards Mooloolah. |
I arrive in Mooloolah a little after sunset to complete the Glasshouse Mountains leg of the trek. |
