Introduction to today's journey
Today's journey takes me on a couple of walkways across the front of the Martial Range. The first of these leads up the mountain towards the retreating Martial Glacier, and the second of these takes me across a small elevated plateau of wetlands. With the weather about to turn for the worse, I head down the mountain back to the coast at the back of Ushuaia Bay.

I check out and store my bag before walking further up the road towards Martial Glacier. This area is a skifield in winter with the hotels dotting these hills full of skiers. The permanent glacier goes to about 600 metres above sea level. |

Returning to the hotel I find a track heading across the top of a low plateau about two hundred metres above the city and below the range. |
