Introduction to today's journey
Today's journey takes us exploring the Miraflores area before we head into the city centre to conclude the tour exploring cathedrals and watching a parade. From there I head out to the airport to leave South America and fly towards North America.
Today's Journey
View from the top of the cliff to a restaurant exposed in the ocean. The waves breaking here have travelled all the way across the Pacific Ocean. |
The same fog I had seen at Valparaiso and Iquique lingers here in Lima. The strong current running northward along the coast brings cold water from the Southern Ocean creating frequent haze all along the coast. |
View southward over the gloomy waves with the distant headland hiding in the thick haze. |
A little Tardis phone box sits outside the hotel about two blocks back from the cliffs as we check out and head into the city. |
Dense traffic slows our trip into the city centre. Sales people selling stuff at most of the intersections slows the traffic down even more. |
Reaching the Plaza de Armas de Lima where locals sell their wares in the square. Here we explore the Catedral de Lima with its earthquake damaged building and catacombs underneath the church. |
Exploring the narrow streets of central Lima. The bright colours of the buildings cheer up this otherwise gloomy overcast day. |
Passing one of the city museums, some of which we explore. |
We return to the plaza to watch a parade marching around the square. |
Joining the rest of the group I have travelled from La Paz with as we part ways. This evening I return to the airport and fly up to Miami. |
