Introduction to today's journey

Today's journey takes me back to Niagara Falls crossing over the Rainbow Bridge into Canada before heading to the river for a cruise to the falls. After exploring the area and heading up a nearby tower, we head around the northern side of Lake Ontario eventually arriving in Toronto where we explore the harbour and the aquarium.

Today's Journey

Crossing Rainbow Bridge in the early morning to the immigration building to enter Canada at Niagara Falls city. The Niagara River runs along the border between USA and Canada.

Once on the other side, I head to the river, at the end of the Canadian side of the Niagara Falls. Here a vast volume of water tumbles over the edge. The falls on this side of Goat Island is much bigger than the falls I saw late yesterday.

We catch a boat a little downstream and head past the American falls.

A bit further upstream we enter the Canadian falls. The massive waterfall sends up a lot of mist and water over us. The cloud of mist rises several hundred metres.

Returning to shore and heading up the hill to where I have a great view of both of the waterfalls and the water running swiftly downstream to Lake Ontario.

We head up the Skylon Tower for lunch. From here 143 metres above the plateau we have spectacular views over the Niagara Falls and along Lake Erie.

From Niagara Falls, we head downstream and part way around Lake Ontario to Toronto, Canada's most populous city of 2.7 million people.

From the city we cruise out to the Toronto Islands exploring the pristine channels under the towering city. The islands create a calm harbour used as a port from where boats can travel all the way to the Atlantic Ocean any time of year except winter when the lake freezes over.

Upon returning to the city, we explore the Toronto Aquarium through its myriad of passageways between the glass aquariums with fish from all around the world.
