Well hello friends. Another beautiful day here in Western Australia. Today I've travelled about seventy kilometres south of Perth to a nice little seaside town called Mandurah. It's where a lot of the rich people live. I've just been exploring one of the canal estates here. It is amazing. It is still fairly early morning and we had an overnight low of about 27 degrees last night and it is about 35 now going up to 41 again. It's another very hot day. Whilst it has been relatively cool, I've been travelling around some of these canal estates and I've now reached the beach. From here I'm going to head back to the train station and spend the rest of the day train surfing. I found out when I arrived yesterday that Perth has free public transport all of December and January. I just got one of their cards which didn't cost anything and I got free unlimited travel on trains and buses and on the ferry as well. Given it is another really hot day and I'm already starting to feel it I'm going to spend the rest of the day in the air conditioned train travelling through pretty much the entire network. It's a good way to spend a hot day.
Well friends I've made it up to Yancheep Station which is the furtherest station at the other end at the northern end of the Perth train line about 56 kilometres north of the city. I've now come over 120 kilometres north of Mandurah where I was earlier this morning. I did stop in the city centre for lunch. It is about 43 degrees there and I've come up here and it's still 43 degrees in the city and very close to 45 at the airport and over 45 degrees inland. It is a very hot day just about breaking records here. It's almost desert. I think it's going to be a new residential area and just a train station in the middle of nowhere.
There's nothing very much to see up here. It is all quite barren so I'm going to head back into the station and jump into another train into some air conditioning to head back into the city.
On this hot day, thanks for me today. I'm going to catch you somewhere else here in Western Australia tomorrow. Until then, ciao for now.
