Well good morning friends. Day 3 here in Western Australia. I've come about a hundred kilometres inland from Perth now to a beautiful little town called York. It is quite a traditional town. If it wasn't for the cars here you'd think you were back in the early 1900s or even late 1800s. This town was set up as a service base for prospectors making their way over to the gold fields at Kalgoorlie which is about another four hundred kilometres inland. I'm exploring here today, and also exploring more areas further inland so I'll bring you some more video updates.

I've now made it up to a small part of what used to be the rabbit proof fence. It was a three thousand kilometre long fence which went across Western Australia to keep the rabbits out when they were introduced to the east coast. This is the fence here, and this is a trap which they used to run every so often along it.

OK I've made it to the Corregin Dog Cemetery. This is where a lot of the local farmers buried their dogs. This is a very unique cemetery. Everything buried here is a dog.

I'm just outside of Mulga's Cave about 330 kilometres out from Perth. I'm quite a way inland now and this is an ancient cave with Aboriginal paintings and hand prints on it. It is quite fascinating and dry out here. Fortunately it is a lot cooler today only thirty five degrees with a southerly breeze coming through cooling it off a bit. Thirty five degrees does sound like a lot, but yesterday it would have been a good forty five degrees here.

I've now made it up to Hippo's Yawn which is part of a big granite formation we are going to be exploring, part of the Wave Rock formation. It's quite amazing being about seven and a half metres high.

OK friends I've now made it to Wave Rock. This is the highlight of the day about 330 kilometres east of Perth. It is a very fascinating granite formation. It has been eroded out over millions of years. I've been exploring the areas to the east of Perth. It has been quite fascinating today.

I've now made it up to the top of Wave Rock. The actual formation is just below the cliff here. At the top here is a very interesting granite formation and it is a great view of the surrounding countryside and coming over here we have a reservior which supplies water to a local town. Very nice area up here on this solid granite overlooking the plains covering a vast area.

I'm now back at Wave Rock again. It is much warmer down here. It was quite windy and cool at the top and here the rock reflects the heat. It is a very interesting granite formation this one. From here we're going to head back towards Perth so I'm going to leave you here.

Thanks friends for joining me again today and I'm going to catch you somewhere else here in Western Australia tomorrow. Until then, ciao for now.
