Introduction to today's journey
REPUTED as the roughest stretch of sea in the world, the Drake Passage is sometimes surprisingly calm. The conditions you encounter on the crossing is very much a lottery. Sometimes the expeditions go through twelve metre swells with passengers confined to their cabins. Other times the ship doesn't rock at all as it ploughs through the calm waters.
