THE TWO kilometre long Totaranui Beach is the longest in the park, and also the most colourful. The sand on this sweeping beach is a bright earthy orange colour. Small wavelets break quietly along the foreshore.
It is early morning and I make the first set of footprints along the beach as I head northwards to the rugged northern bays of the park.
