FOLLOWING four days on the Inca Trail, I had a day resting in Cusco, the Incan capital city. Much of the original Incan architecture remains in the lower half of the buildings, but they are topped by Spanish architecture.
The air quickly chilled as the sun set in the high altitude city three and a half kilometres above sea level. Despite the chill the small city suddenly sprung to life in the early evening. The cold stone buildings were illuminated in warm light making them very inviting.
