MY CANON 500D was starting to wear out. It had taken a good seventy thousand shots in eleven countries. Some of the electronics was starting to wear out. The flash was no longer working and the settings often produced unpredictable results.
It was time to retire the camera and get a new body.
The EOS 60D had a much higher quality sensor, approaching that of the top model brands. There were quite a few new functions including the ability to take high definition video. Additionally it had a screen where you could view the images. It is the only camera I know of that has a flip screen allowing you to watch yourself on video whilst it was playing. It was a heavier and bulkier camera than my old one, but the improved results were very worthwhile.
