WALKING the trails around Lake Samsonvale in the late afternoon a Kookaburra sat in a tree above the trail. It sat there awaiting the crepuscular insects to come out for its dinner.
The Laughing Kookaburra is the world's largest species of kingfisher. The name Kookaburra was given by the Wiradhuri Aboriginal people, but this language no longer exists, so it is not known what this name means.
