AT ITS closest point in its orbit around Earth all year, the supermoon tonight brightly illuminated the night sky. The full moon coincides with the perigee (closest point to Earth) every 13 months and 18 days. The still winter sky allowed a largely unhindered view through the normally soupy atmosphere. |
