I STARTED very early on the second day of the hike of the South East Coast. I thought it would be most appropriate to watch the sunrise from Sunrise Beach.
It was the coldest morning of the year, at only five degrees with a biting wind chill from the south westerly. The usual bank of cloud was hanging above the edge of the continental shelf some distance offshore. Otherwise there wasn't a cloud in the sky. I watched the sky lighten from the mouth of a small stream that meandered sharply across the beach.
Fortunately the beach quickly warmed once the sun rose as I continued heading southward along the beach eventually reaching my intended destination at Point Arkwright.
