THE SKY cleared in the early morning as I took a cruise out into Milford Sound. This is the third cruise I have done here, and all three times in sunny weather, but this time there were waterfalls tumbling off the sheer mile high cliffs towering out of the deep water. Also a first for me, I stopped off at the underwater observatory at Harrison Cove.
Following the cruise I explored the waterfront, something I've not done in previous trips with being on a tour quickly whisking me away back into civilisation. For this reason I had booked two nights here in Milford Sound to explore this unique settlement nestled under the jagged mountains of Fiordland.
Here I am posing along the natural waterfront at high tide as the clear water laps against the rocky beach under the brilliant sunshine.
