EXPLORING the river downstream from Mount Ommaney, I watched a spectacular sunrise over Seventeen Mile Rocks before exploring the nearby park in what had once been a small quarry.

The park had numerous large artefacts from what had once been a cement factory. This 115 tonne mill was used to crush the coral extracted from Moreton Bay into a fine dust before being mixed with clay, sand, ironstone and water to create cement.
