I'VE ARRIVED here at Central Park in the middle of New York City, having successfully arrived earlier this morning having spent the past 24 hours crossing the Pacific Ocean all the way from Brisbane. My first time here in North America - another continent I can now tick off the list. There's just Antarctica to go, and that will be happening early next year.

So here I am at Central Park in the beautiful city of New York. Having arrived this morning I've been exploring the park and I also went down to Times Square (advertising max - very busy, very crowded) but here it is a bit quieter even though there are a lot of people wandering around here. This is a nice secluded area overlooking a nice pond and you can see a couple of buildings in the background. It's hard to believe this is the middle of a major city.

The weather is quite muggy at the moment, with it being overcast with the clouds down to 120 metres so I can't even see the tall buildings as they go right into the clouds. These clouds are actually from the very top end of Hurricane Florence which, I haven't been checking the news over the past couple of days but I'm guessing the hurricane's now come onto the coast several hundred kilometres south of here and although there's almost no wind at all here, I can imagine the conditions will be pretty ugly down south. Fortunately the weather is good enough for me to walk around the park today.

If it clears tomorrow I'm going to explore some of the bigger buildings. If not, nearby is the Museum of Natural History which I'm sure will take up a whole day. I will be in New York for quite a few days this trip so I can already see there is a huge amount of things to explore here and its going to keep me very occupied.
