Well good morning friends. Today I'm back up at Lake Samsonvale. It's a little while since I was last here. The rainy season has come to an end now and it's going to be mostly fine weather from now on. This is as high as the lake is going to get. It's about two metres higher than when I was last here. I'm just exploring the lake again this morning. I haven't done a morning walk here for quite a long time. I'll see what I'll find today. Come join with me as I have another little walk around the lake.

OK I've crossed the top of the bluff now and back beside the lake. From here the track is going to wind its way around the edge of the lake. Last time I was here the water was a lot lower. You can see out there some grass that is now sticking out of the water. The shore up to a few weeks ago used to be way out there past those blades of grass. So the water has risen a good two or three metres. That will give us a bit more water supply for the long winter and spring dry season. This time of the year is really nice and sunny. You'll find the next few months of travel diaries are nearly always going to be in sunny weather as we have here in this part of the world. Across the other side of the lake behind me is another walking track which I've just found out about, so I'll try that out sometime soon.

I'm back on the track now. It runs pretty level around the lake. You'll notice I quit using Facebook about a year ago and to be honest I've hardly used it in the last three years. I just lost interest in it - too much political propaganda and silly memes. Then after the Christchurch massacre about two years ago I was not at all comfortable using it ever since then, seeing what can happen with live streams. I heard about that when I came out from Antarctica. Since then I was never at all happy with using it. About a year ago I realised I wasn't using it at all and completely lost interest in it. I completely deleted my account. I have had one or two people say that it had been hacked into a bit after I closed it. That is a bit strange having completely closed the account. Anyway I'm certainly not on Facebook at all and never intend to get back on it. It is an extremely toxic environment. I could talk for hours about that. If you do want to know why, just jump on Youtube and search for "why I quit Facebook". You'll get heaps and heaps of vlogs of people explaining why they quit it. Usually the title of the video interestingly is "why I quit social media". Of course Youtube is social media as well and I certainly still use that and it is quite a good platform, particularly for travel vlogs around the world which I follow, and quantum theory and other really interesting things. It is far more intelligent than all the dumbed down stuff you find on Facebook and other social media platforms but that's what I'm doing. Anyway my website's going to be around for good. Put the word out there because not many people know about it yet.

Anyway that's my talk for today - I'm off Facebook, I have been for about three years and never plan to get back on it again. At the moment Youtube's the main platform. Maybe down the track if the toxic social media settles down a bit maybe I will get back onto another platform. I don't think Facebook even realise how dangerous they are going to be until it is too late. Most of my local friends in Australia gave up Facebook years ago so it's not as if I'm missing out on anything except obviously those of you overseas, but the good posts seem to be very few and far between. I don't have time for clutter with being quite busy at the moment working full time and doing a lot of travel stuff. I'll certainly keep the Youtube account going. I'll keep the comments locked to keep away the flamers and stuff. But apart from that, it's time I got back to this beautiful walk.

Well friends I've now completed the trail. Time to sign off today. Thanks for joining me and I'll catch you somewhere else next time. Ciao for now.
