Hi friends. Today I'm coming from Kybong, near Traveston about 150 kilometre north of Brisbane. Behind me is Matilda, the famous kangaroo used in the 1982 commonwealth games in Brisbane. As you're probably aware Brisbane is going to be hosting the olympics in a few years. I guess this will be coming to Brisbane as well. It has moved. Last time I was here it was over the other side of the lake, from where there was a much nicer view than at this rest area. It has been up and down all over the place including the Gold Coast since 1982 but I'm not staying here long. I'm heading into Gympie about another 25 kilometres up the road. I shall see you there.

Well friends I've made it up to Gympie. This is just a short trip from the last stop. I'm now at the old railway station. This is where the old railway line from Brisbane ended after 170 kilometres. Gympie became famous in the 1800s when there was a big gold rush up here which founded the town. It is quite a historic town. From here at the railway station is a five or six kilometre trek, the rail to river track. I'm going to have a look for that and follow the signs. From here I hope to get through the town to the Mary River, and then back along the old railway line. Come join with me as I explore historical Gympie.

Well friends I've made it back to the old Gympie train station, having completed the whole circuit over about seven kilometres. Remember the first section was going through the town centre, very interesting and very historic. The second section was going up the Mary River about half way down from its source. Then I followed a little creek where the gold mining occurred making Gympie famous back in the 1800s. From there I passed under the old railway line and followed Old Brisbane Road, the original road linking Brisbane and Gympie over 170 kilometres. Then finally up this big hill up to the top here where the railway station is. It was a successful day today. This is where I will finish up today, so thanks friends for joining with me today. I'll catch you somewhere else next time. Ciao for now.
