I CAUGHT the train to Indooroopilly Station from where I headed to the Jack Pesch Bridge, a pedestrian/cycle bridge named after a famous cyclist in the 1930s. I walked out to the middle of the bridge to photograph the river before heading back to the north bank and started following the newly constructed Indooroopilly Riverwalk heading upstream. Last time I was here, I had to follow a very narrow track around the bluff. The new track goes out over the river, passing under the bridges (pedestrian, rail and road) before continuing upstream for a few hundred metres with a few stops with information signs. It was not long though before the walkway ended back on the land from where I followed a number of footpaths through Fig Tree Pocket suburbia over steep hills with a short break following a path along Cubberla Creek.

I eventually returned to the Brisbane River at Centenary Bridge, which I crossed to half way to photograph the river before returning and heading up to the overpass bridge on Kenmore Road. From here I continued through residential areas until reaching Marland Street Park which I followed a trail over grass, then through bush over a low hill before descending into Moggill Creek. From there I followed another track heading upstream through dense rainforest and crossing a bridge to Rafting Ground Reserve. Here I stopped at one of the main markers showing the height of the 1974 flood of the Brisbane River, most of these flood areas have now been resumed into parkland.

From here there were no good tracks heading upstream along Brisbane River, so I took a bus up to Bellbowrie to explore the town in the late afternoon before heading home.
