THE SUN rises behind the trees as I pack up camp and start heading out the way I came in along South Boundary Road. It is a very peaceful early morning hike through the tall forest rounding the ridge bounding the headwaters of Enoggera Creek.

I continue following the track to where I had joined it on the Thylogale Track yesterday. Instead of returning along Thylogale Track, I continue along the last two hundred metres of South Boundary Road to its end at Mount Nebo Road. I have now hiked the entire length of this track. The track does arrive out in the middle of nowhere, but I turn right and follow Mount Nebo Road towards Brisbane for about two hundred metres, passing some road works before turning off along a short road heading up to Jolly's Lookout where I stay for about half an hour to look out over the spectacular view across the Samford Valley into the Moreton Bay Region with views to as far as Moreton Island.

After resting at the lookout I head back down the side road to where the Thylogale Track starts and follow it for a short distance before turning off to hike the short Egernia Ciruit through the rainforest at the headwaters of Jolly's Creek, a branch off Enoggera Creek headwaters.

Once I completed the circuit, I continued along Thylogale Track through the rainforest with the occasional break with a view to the distant Brisbane City centre. The track rounded the end of a long spur before doubling back towards the junction at South Boundary Road.

After reaching the junction, I followed the section of Thylogale Track I had followed yesterday back to Boombana. Here I rested at the picnic area for a while before walking the short Pitta Circuit to a boardwalk over some enormous buttressed rooted trees in the rainforest. From here Post Office Track descends from the boardwalk. I followed this track through the scrubby bush until reaching the start of Mount Nebo township straddled across the top of the ridge. I follow the path through the village before heading back to Boombana completing the Pitta Circuit.
