Introduction to today's journey
Today's journey continues from Watsons Bay rounding Hornby Point to leave the tranquil waters of Sydney Harbour to the dramatic swells of the Tasman Sea beating against the rugged cliffs of the southern coastline as I pass many headlands dropping into the famous Bondi Beach ending the Manly to Bondi coast walk, and following the even more famous Bondi to Coogee walk to end the day at Coogee Beach.

Today's Journey
Returning to the calm beach at Watsons Bay, I continue following the coast further out along the harbour. |
It does not take me long to reach the Hornby Point Lighthouse at the entrance to the harbour. Manly Head where I explored a few days ago dominates the other side of the harbour. The Tasman Sea is a lot calmer than it had been when I was hiking the north shore a few days ago. |
Turning south, I follow the very rugged coastline with the jagged sandstone cliffs towering above the pristine blue water as I descend to The Gap and head up the other side. |
After following the top of the cliffs for a while, I reach the top of a hill upon which stands the impressive Macquarie Lighthouse. |
The trail continues along the top of the cliffs along a narrow verge of grass separating the vertical drop from the houses at the edge of the suburb of Valcluse. |
Occasionally the track comes right up to the cliffs affording spectacular views of the rugged layered sandstone and the deep blue sea. |
Eventually after the very long cliff walk, the track descends through a few suburban strees onto the very busy Bondi Beach. With the weather a lot clearer, the beaches are open and very crowded. Here I complete the eighty kilometre long Manly to Bondi walkway. |
At the end of the beach I start following the famous Bondi to Coogee walkway around the spectacular headlands. Here I am just leaving Bondi Beach passing over the salt water baths. |
After passing Mackenzies Point and Tamarama Beach, I round another short headland before reaching Bronte Beach where the boardwalk and path continues around more headlands. |
After passing several more beaches, a cemetery and more rugged headlands, I reach the crowded Coogee Beach where I walk towards its far end to complete today's hike. |
