Today's journey starts with exploring the very alternative lifstyle village of Nimbin before heading across the hill into the crater of the Tweed Volcano and following the Tweed River downstream to the tranquil town of Murwillumbah.
Today's Journey
Rain falls overnight, and continues falling into the morning as I explore the very quaint Nimbin village. |
There are lots of shops selling all sorts of crafts from the locals who live on their lifestyle blocks hidden in the surrounding misty hills. |
The rain continues falling as I continue exploring th edifferent shops and museums in the town. There is even one museum dedicated to drug use, which is obviously a big thing around here. |
With a break in the weather, I follow the path along the swollen Mulgum Creek exploring the lush green countryside. |
I discover an old factory now painted in bright colours with its own waxworks inside creating all sorts of brightly coloured candles. |
Returning towards the town centre, I pass a stall sheltering from the rain under a tarp. |
Returning to the town, everything is so brightly coloured here cheering up this otherwise dull grey rainy day. |
From Nimbin I head out over Mount Burrell into the large crater of the Tweed Volcano. Thick mist envelopes the slopes of the extinct volcano. |
The highway descends into the crater and makes its way down the Tweed River to my base for the next couple of days in Murwillumbah. |
The rain clears as I explore Murwillumbah Village revealing the striking peak of Mount Warning at the centre of the volcano. |
