Introduction to today's journey
Today's journey takes me up and down The Mall in Washington D.C. I start near Capitol Hill and follow the Mall to the Washington Monument and eventually to the Lincoln Memorial. From there I head back along The Mall towards Capitol Hill stopping at several of the Smithsonian Museums.
Today's Journey

The United States Capitol Building at the eastern end of The Mall shortly before sunrise. From here I head west towards the other end of the mall, 2 miles away. |

The rising sun shines on the magnificent Washington Memorial as many locals run around the wide gravel path of The Mall. |

At the far end of The Mall, two miles away from the Capitol building, is the Lincoln memorial reflected in the Reflecting Pool. |

I return about two kilometres along The Mall and head north across more parkland to The White House. |

Returning to The Mall, I visit some of the Smithsonian Museums which line each side of the parkland. This is the main gallery of the Natural History Museum. |
