Introduction to today's journey

Today's journey takes me into Central Park, exploring its vast expanse of tranquility in the middle of one of the busiest cities in the world before heading into the famous museum of natural history then heading past Billionaire's Row to as far as Times Square.

Today's Journey

Entering the south end of Central Park. Very skinny apartment blocks under construction tower hundreds of metres into the low clouds overhead.

Exploring one of the many paths of Central Park with its old bridges and rocky landforms. This area was under about a mile of ice during the last ice age. The glacier came down the nearby Hudson River, and flowed over this area, but the very hard rock making up Manhattan Island resisted the glacier making a perfect foundation for the towering skyline of New York City.

The General William Techumseh Sherman Monument at the south corner of Central Park. He was one of the generals of the American civil war.

Following a rustic track through the forest of dense bush bright green but soon to turn orange with Autumn very soon.

After exploring much of Central Park, I head into the American Museum of Natural History for several hours.
