THE MORNING dawned overcast and humid. Rain was coming. Tired and a little sunburned from yesterday's long hike I decided to take it easy today following the track up to Spitfire Creek and spending much of the day there, exploring its channels to where it comes out of the bush down to where it flows across the beach. The creek had numerous pools and bends in it from past ocean and flooding activity.

The cloud continued to thicken throughout the morning and a cool south easterly breeze brought the first of the rain. It was only a light fall, but decided to return to the camp and rest in the tent for the remainder of the day as steady rain continued falling. Fortunately I was able to collect some of the water for drinking.
